FileZilla utiliza FTP con encriptación TLS por defecto (de fábrica) pero este sistema de cifrado no está soportado automáticamente por los servidores.
Si estás teniendo error de: “Failed to retrieve directory listing”, por ejemplo:

Status: Verifying certificate...
Status: TLS connection established.
Status: Server does not support non-ASCII characters.

Response: 257 "/" is your current location
Command: TYPE I
Response: 200 TYPE is now 8-bit binary
Command: PASV
Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (11,234,234,234,167,111)
Command: MLSD
Error: Connection timed out
Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing
Entonces tendrás que ir en FileZilla > Archivo > Gestor de Sitios > Cifrado > Only Use Plain FTP (insecure) clic en Conectar y listo.
